New Executive Chef at Frist Center

FRIST CENTER NAMES KEVIN KIMMEL AS EXECUTIVE CHEF
NASHVILLE, TENN.—(Oct. 2, 2006)—Kevin L. Kimmel has been named Executive Chef of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and will be responsible for operations of café and catering operations for the institution.
A 1991 graduate of the famed Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, N.Y., with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, Kimmel brings more than 25 years of food service experience to the Frist Center.
Kimmel specializes in classic and healthy American cuisine that takes full advantage of region and season.
A native of Centereach, Long Island, N.Y., Kimmel has worked in restaurants since the age of 14. Later, he served in the Marine Corps, working in food service, and the experience inspired him to attend the Culinary Institute. For the last 10 years, he worked in Glen Cove, N.Y., where he owned a restaurant and also served several institutions in capacities including dining room manager, executive sous chef and food and beverage director.
He relocated to Middle Tennessee to be near family in the area.
The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, located at 919 Broadway in downtown Nashville, Tenn., is an art exhibition center dedicated to presenting the finest visual art from local, regional, U.S. and international sources in a program of changing exhibitions. The Frist Center’s Martin ArtQuest Gallery features over 30 interactive stations relating to Frist Center exhibitions. Gallery admission to the Frist Center is free for visitors 18 and under and to Frist Center members. Frist Center admission is $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and military, and $6.50 for college students with ID. Discounts are offered for groups of 10 or more with advance reservation by calling (615) 744.3246. Special admission pricing for The Quest for Immortality applies: $10 for Frist Center members, $17 for adults, $14 for seniors and free for children 18 an under.
